The Anchovy Hunter (AH) is built for finesse anglers who want to cover ground fast — from local wharves and rocks to harbour edges and open estuaries up and down the New Zealand coastline. Target kahawai, yellowtail, trevally, and kingfish in the upper-to-mid water column, or bouce it in the bottom for snapper.

Natural Swim: Steady retrieve, rod held low to the water.

Darting Escape: Fast retrieve with sharp, short twitches.

Dying Fall: Stop the retrieve on a semi-slack line and let it fall.

Jig Select Instructions

Treble Hook (10g) — Best for small-medium pelagics like kahawai, jack mackerel, and slimy. Pair with a medium-fast to slow action rod — the softer tip keeps constant pressure on the fish, holding the trebles pinned. Easy to unhook too; just hold the body and give it a shake.

Inline Single (10g/25g/40g) — Best for larger pelagics like big kahawai, mid-size kingfish, and freshwater trout. Pair with a fast-action medium to heavy rod for quick, solid hook sets that are hard to shake. It also allow you to work the full water column with fewer snags.

Care Instructions

Rinse thoroughly in fresh water after a saltwater session. Store out of reach of children and animals — treble hooks are extremely sharp. Flatten the barb if required by local regulations or personal preference.
